I’ve been nominated for a Sunshine Blogger Award!
When I checked my RSS feed this morning, I expected the typical slow Tuesday. I was really surprised and happy to see that Gary from Super Saving Tips had nominated me for a Sunshine Blogger Award.
The Sunshine Blogger Award is a way bloggers can recognize each other for positivity, get to know one another, and get a little more personal on their blogs. Although not really a true award, like the Plutus Awards that you can nominate bloggers for, the Sunshine Blogger Award is just a fun way to get recognized.
In accepting the award, I agree to:
- Thank the person who nominated me;
- Answer the questions from the person who nominated me;
- Nominate some other bloggers for this award;
- Write the same amount of questions for the bloggers I have nominated;
- Notify the bloggers I have nominated.
These are the questions that Gary made up for me to answer.
If you could live anywhere on the planet, where would it be?
I don’t think I can answer that concisely, because I want to go everywhere. I’d love to spend at least a year abroad, preferably visiting Italy, Germany and England – I’ve also wanted to visit Finland and Sweden, and spend time on a tropical island. My ideal home site would be anywhere with lots of land and few people, but I’d still like the flexibility to visit other places often.
What was the most dangerous, or most exciting, thing you’ve ever done?
Most dangerous? Definitely taking a cab in either Rome or St. Lucia – either one works.
But in all seriousness, I must be either extremely cautious or just boring, because I don’t really have a great answer to this question. I have successfully avoided feeding sharks, jumping out of airplanes, and hitchhiking solo across Europe, which makes me feel quite secure, and also a little bit lame.
I do think one of the most interesting adventures I have had was in Rome. I was with a few girls from school, and we hopped in a cab hoping to get back to the train station, only to realize there were multiple train stations and our cab driver didn’t speak English. I had a lot of fun trying to communicate with her in my less-than-ample Italian as she drove at insane speeds, gabbing away on her cell phone, and trying to get us to the right train station. I’m not sure the other girls would agree it was fun.
What’s your favorite movie and why?
Secondhand Lions, hands down. It’s a love story, combined with a ton of humor, a pet lion, and bit of coming-of-age. Seriously, you should go watch it.
What is your greatest piece of advice on how to save money?
Make it mindless. Set up direct deposit or an automatic transfer to an account that is difficult to access, and stop thinking about it. You’d be surprised how easy it is to forget about $20 each week, but your bank account will thank you!
What is your favorite meal to eat or to cook?
Green bean casserole – the kind with creamy Campbells soup and crunchy fried onions – has always been my favorite dish. It’s really unhealthy, and is usually a Thanksgiving dish, but that doesn’t stop me from making it multiple times throughout the year. My secret: swap out the Cream of Mushroom soup (gag!) with Cream of Celery or Cream of Asparagus.
Nominations and questions.
You, reader, are my nominee! I’d love for you to play along in the comments, and answers the following questions. I may even use your answers as inspiration for a future post.
- If you could have lunch with anyone, alive or dead, who would it be?
- What do you consider to be the most important virtue?
- What is one skill you wish you had?
